Argentina striker Sergio Aguero confirmed Wednesday that he has joined big-spending English Premier League club Manchester City from Atletico Madrid.
The 23-year-old revealed the news on his official Twitter feed, saying: "I'm already a City player. Happy to be in this club, in this city. Thank you all for the welcome and reception."
Details of the transfer have not yet been released, but the deal is thought to be worth about 38 million pounds (62 million dollars), which would be a club record.
Aguero's father in law is Argentina football legend Diego Maradona, and the striker is regarded as one of the best young forwards in world football.
City moved quickly for Aguero after their captain, Carlos Tevez, announced that he intends to leave the club.
Tevez, who captained City to a place in the next Champions League, wants to be closer to his family in South America. Although a move to Corinthians of Brazil recently broke down, City are resigned to his departure.
